It was back in September 2012 when I completed my first ever organized bike ride. It was a real challenge for me – old and grey, a bit overweight and only just getting started on the bike – it was a real achievement and I even raised a bit of money for the sponsors, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Since then, I have loved the cycling more and more and am delighted to be doing the ride again. There have been lots of training rides, hill climbs, sportives, new cycling gear and a couple of new bikes in the last three years, but nothing beats a ride “on quiet lanes in the Shakespeare country of South Warwickshire and the edge of The Cotswolds” (as the MacRide website says).
This autumn’s ride is on Sept 13th, is 100k (62 miles) and starts and finishes at Stratford upon Avon Park & Ride.
This is the only charity ride where I ask for donations – it’s such a good cause – so if you’d like to give a small amount, please click the link to my Just Giving page.
